I love the idea of the Chinese five spice partly because I almost never see it used in anything other than meat and I’ve always got a rogue bottle of the stuff languishing in my cupboard that’s so old, it’s probably got rings in it like an oak tree. Cheers for the inspo!
Glad to hear that. And yes, Chinese Five Spice Powder is great with meat but it works super well in sweet applications as well. Fantastic in a plum compote too!
And one of my motivations for developing recipes is definitely to help folks make the most of ingredients that might otherwise just languish in the pantry!
