Ok so I seriously have to up porridge game. I love the mix of hot and cold and texture topping changes. Porridge such a great way to start the day - the complex carbohydrates, eliminating UPF ingredients and feeding the sugar monster found in so many shop bought breakfast brands. Love all of these x

Thank you Sarah! And yes, I know porridge has recently gotten some bad press in the UK, but I think mainly the also UPF quick or instant oats with mixed in sugars. But a proper bowl of porridge with some extra fats, seeds and nuts is a brilliantly cheap and nourishing way to start the day!

So I have oats every morning at work. I make them in the microwave. I’m not proud but I need to eat things quickly and I’m trying to avoid stuff that is bad for you. So I really love the idea of the miso sugar and the cardamom. Right now, I’m surviving on a neat diet of frozen blueberries and coconut sugar with oats. I quite like the contrast of the frozen blueberries.

Can highly recommend the miso sugar - great with French Toast and all manner of doughnuts, beignets, fritters etc.

And no shame in microwave oatmeal - definitely a staple in my life right now as well. Needs must and all that. Plus, as you say, it definitely beats many alternative breakfast options!

Yup it’s been a rotation of oatmeal or egg white omelettes these days. I have a cholesterol score to lower. I used to have fun 😆

Woo I’m always so glad to see people who also know of Megan Gordan’s genius recipe from her book! I also learned about it from Molly and I also later bought Megan’s book. It’s the only way my daughter will eat oats (to be fair, she’s been raised on that method since toddlerhood). I’m a fan of a scoop of preserves (I love marmalade but anything that’s open will do), and a large mound of salty nuts, preferably pistachios. The sweet salty savory combo, with the crunch of the nuts is great. Also the nuts provide protein that help me not get too hungry too fast. People always say that oats with all the fiber will keep you full for hours but I have not found that to be the case for me, I am starving by 10am unless I add some protein. Thanks for all the creative ideas!! Your bowls all look so delicious!

It simply makes the tastiest and creamiest porridge! And yes to your suggested toppings - it’s all about that sweet and salty contrast and some crunch to contrast the creamt porridge.

And yes, if I don’t add extra fibre, fat and protein to my porridge I’m also starving by 10am!

I've got a pantry full of black cardamom, dried black lime, licorice powder, dried rose petals, osmanthus flowers, butterfly pea flowers and fenugreek! Would appreciate any ideas on how to use them! Sweet or savory, though i love mixing the two ;)
